Lemon Drizzle Recruitment have been exclusively appointed to recruit an experienced Quantity Surveyor for a specialist highways subcontractor based in Darlington.
An introduction to the Company and what it's like to work for them:
This company works on highways and specialises in traffic lights, roads signs, civil engineering and EV charging ports. They've been established for 12 years and have grown their turnover massively over the last 5 years. They work on highways nationwide and have exciting new projects commencing for Tier 1 highways contractors in the North East. Projects will fall under NEC form of contract and will cover traffic lights, road signs, civil engineering and EV charging ports/connections.
They have a dynamic team and offer a relaxed culture where everyone gets stuck in to get the job done. Working in a small team means you'll juggle multiple projects simultaneously and you will be exposed to the other key roles within the business along with Estimating and Quantity Surveying. The team often meets up for out of work activities such as golf, and the company often has team nights out and other social events.
You'll be office-based 8-5 Mon-Fri in Darlington and will be expected to visit site as and when required. Hybrid working is offered with working from home days encouraged. Flexibility will be offered as and when needed; this company appreciates that sometimes things come up and work needs to fit around it.
What you'll be doing and be responsible for:
You will manage projects of various sizes ensuring clear and accurate budgets are produced. You will have an effective relationship with both clients and internal departments to ensure the contract is completed within its projected budget.
1. Support the Commercial Director/Commercial Manager in developing and implementing the businesses commercial strategy within your projects & projecting the organisations ethos.
2. Assist with developing, implementing and adhering to the company's commercial strategy.
3. Expectation to manage multiple projects of varying sizes and complexities.
4. Ensure that clear and accurate budgets are done at tender award and then monthly per project via Elite.
5. Procurement of works to meet and exceed programme and ideally tender budgets.
6. Preparation of sub-contract documents for tendering.
7. Management of client and subcontractor accounts.
8. Weekly review and analysis of programme, progress and cost monitoring.
9. Change control management.
10. Risk & opportunity management.
11. Financial monitoring and reporting and liaising with the project team.
12. Development and Agreement of Project Forecasts with Operational teams.
13. Detailed commercial analysis of various outputs.
14. Commercial support on tenders.
15. Submission of monthly applications for payments.
16. Following the company approved work procedures.

Who is this role ideal for?
The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of construction processes, cost management, and contracts, and will collaborate with project teams to deliver cost-effective and timely results.
1. A methodical thinker.
2. An experienced Quantity Surveyor and degree qualified in quantity surveying, or commercial management accredited.
3. Great at prioritising effectively, and able to deal with multiple responsibilities and deadlines.
4. A strong communicator and able to build strong relationships with people at all levels.
5. Detail-oriented and able to identify improvements needed.
6. Proficient in Microsoft Office.
7. Well organised with exceptional timekeeping.
