Job Summary
The Facilities Maintenance Technician I is accountable to the Facilities Supervisor for all activities involving the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, reporting, and monitoring of facility systems equipment.
Responsibilities
* Operates facility systems to provide specified reliable environmental conditions and utilities to production, packaging, laboratory, warehouse, and office areas.
* Inspects, maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, and improves all facility systems in the plant to ensure reliability and equipment works as intended.
* Carries out timely completion of all preventative maintenance work orders as assigned. Analyzes and compiles trending reports and other documentation and makes recommendations for continuous improvements in areas of responsibilities to eliminate production downtime and prevent issues from recurring.
* Prepares quality systems documents when deviations occur and makes changes to the validated systems.
* Communicates with internal and external customers regarding work activities and issues that affect other areas, particularly production.
* Obtains estimates and quotes from Vendors and arranges for the execution of the contracted services including necessary coordination and supervision.
* Plans, anticipates problems and notifies responsible individuals to reduce impact on production schedules.
* Prepares reports and updates to the Manager and Customers, and participates in cost savings initiatives to reduce energy consumption in the plant.
* Responds to BAS/FMS alarms and remote notifications (RENO) and carries out necessary corrective actions.
* Writes, evaluates, and maintains facility systems documentation as required to ensure compliance with GMP guidelines, established safety standards, and company goals.
* Supervises Contractors performing contract services in the plant including supporting other capital projects related to facility systems.
* Orders parts, filters, and other consumables and stays within operating budget.
* Supports the validation team in carrying out validation projects related to facilities equipment.
* Provides technical expertise to facilities and other maintenance staff and outside contractors to assist them in understanding specific job requirements and in the planning for future expansion and capital projects.
* Performs minor plumbing maintenance.
* Observes and supports all safety guidelines and regulations.
* Demonstrates the Company Mission, Vision, and Values Statements, policies, and current standard business practices.
* Follows GMP and regulatory requirements, and ensures quality standards are met.
* Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications
Education
* Trade certification in a recognized College.
* TSSA certified 4th Class Stationary Engineer or Refrigeration ‘B’ Operator.
* Licensed millwright or refrigeration mechanic is an asset.
Experience
* Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of complex building systems.
* Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural, mechanical, and electrical drawings/schematics.
* Efficient electrical control and instrumentation troubleshooting skills.
* Proven analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
* Effective organizational, time management, and detail-orientation skills.
* Strong computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft applications.
* Ability to work with minimal supervision, taking initiative and prioritizing work.
* Knowledge of a computerized building management system to operate building equipment and good computer skills.
* Respond to on-call and willing to work on flexible shifts and on a rotation basis.
