Adult Mental Health SDA Intake Therapist
The Adult Mental Health Therapist conducts ongoing psychotherapy, counseling, and therapy services including, but not limited to, the treatment of mental health disorders as identified in the current Agency-utilized Diagnostic & Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) to determine appropriateness for targeted case management services, outpatient crisis stabilization, crisis intervention appointments, and Health Planning Region (HPR) I detox screening. This position meets with a wide variety of individuals seeking psychiatric services at Northwestern Community Services Board (NWCSB) as part of the intake/therapy process. Case management and clinical interview skills are needed to obtain previous client records from outside agencies and collect relevant historical information from the individual. These services must be provided under the general supervision of the Adult Mental Health Program Manager. The position is assigned to a primary location but may also provide services in other NWCSB clinics and community settings, as appropriate.
This position also sets and reviews the nursing and medical support staff scheduling in partnership with the Medical Assistant (Lead), ensuring appropriate clinic coverage and reconciling employee timesheets.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A combination of mental health work experience or relevant education, and training, which indicates the possession of knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform essential job duties required.
Master’s degree earned from an accredited college or university in relevant human services field required.
LMHP eligibility required, license preferred.
Experience or relevant course work with completing assessments and providing basic counseling interventions required.
Must possess a valid Driver’s License, good driving record, and the ability to provide your own transportation.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
* May be exposed to allergenic environments from client’s homes, including dust, smoke, pet contamination, cleaning supplies, etc.
* May be exposed to clients with infectious diseases.
* Must be able to drive for long periods of time to travel in and out of the catchment area as needed.
* Must be able to walk distances, climb and descend stairs, maneuver in and out of agency vehicles.
* Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
* Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 25 pounds at times.
SALARY: $61,789 – $78,611
RETIREMENT: NWCSB participates in the Virginia Retirement System.
