Our client has 5 branches across beautiful East Lothian, with beaches and countless outdoor pursuits on the doorstep. The main branch is housed in a purpose-built building and equipped with digital X-ray, ultrasound, dental suite, two dedicated operating theatres, prep room, separate cat and dog ward, and 4 large, airy consult rooms. They have a visiting orthopaedic vet and an ophthalmology referral service.
They encourage further development and have multiple team members studying for certificates. Great transport links to Edinburgh mean that working with them allows you to enjoy beautiful countryside and the bright lights of the city. Their own OOH offering allows for optimal stabilisation, monitoring and workup of critical cases, and the OOH rota is designed to reward the team with a better work-life balance, for helping to provide round-the-clock care. The other branches are all within walking distance to the sea so coastal lunchtime walks are a must.
The team consists of 17 Veterinary Surgeons, 15 Registered Veterinary Nurses, and a strong, dedicated Reception team. They are a friendly and relaxed team who enjoy working together in a supportive environment. Certificate training and further development are also actively encouraged and supported.
The role will be a mix of consulting and surgery in a busy first opinion practice with visiting and in-house specialists. The position is a full-time permanent role working a 5-day week, with varying shifts patterns from starting at 8:00 am to 11:30 am (8.5-hour days). They are passionate about providing 24-hour care, to ensure patients receive excellent standards of care at any time of day, as well as giving staff the exposure to ECC work they desire. They also greatly respect the care and dedication put into OOH work and so reward with generous time back. The rota is currently a 1 in 8 (including weekends, evenings, and night shifts) based mainly in one site but branch cover will be required ad hoc across all 5 surgeries.
The ideal candidate must be experienced and happy with taking sole charge when required. They are also looking for someone who is friendly and an adaptable team player with excellent communication and customer service skills, strong organisational skills, attention to detail, ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment, good attention to detail, and the ability to follow protocols, compassionate and caring attitude towards animals and their owners. You must hold a valid UK driving licence and have access to your own car, as branch work will be required at any time throughout East Lothian.
