Role: UK Tax Manager
Salary: £60K to £80k plus bonus and single cover private medical

Reporting to: Head of UK Reporting, Tax & Pension
The main objective of the UK Tax Manager role is to provide strategic leadership in navigating the evolving tax landscape, driving UK tax initiatives, managing complex tax matters, and fostering strong relationships with stakeholders, while ensuring compliance with UK tax regulations and implementing efficient tax strategies within the UK group and reporting cluster.
Main duties of the role:
* Responsible for the UK’s tax compliance program and including preparation and review of monthly VAT, quarterly IPT returns and annual corporation tax returns for all UK companies, including SPV’s.
* Preparing capital allowance allocations in respect of site refurbishments and fit-outs.
* Liaising with external advisers and HMRC as required and dealing with any HMRC enquiries. Working with advisers to ensure returns are filed on a timely basis and e-filing and IXBRL requirements are met.
* Ensuring all tax related payments are made when due, including forecasting and calculating Corporation Tax payments on account.
* Collaborating with other parts of Finance and Global Tax colleagues to accurately forecast the ETR for the UK and understanding the underlying drivers affecting the UK forecasted ETR.
* Responsible for all tax related accounting entries related to VAT, IPT, current and deferred tax and tax disclosures in the statutory accounts, together with year-end group tax reporting package.
* Ensuring a robust set of supporting schedules are prepared for external audit.
* Working with Global Tax colleagues to ensure that key UK tax matters are appropriately reflected in the Group’s consolidated tax reporting and auditor reviews are effectively resolved.
* Maintain and update tax screens within Greenway software to ensure accurate and up-to-date tax information is reflected and conduct regular reviews and assessments of Greenway’s tax screens for consistency and compliance with tax regulations.
* As part of upcoming Pillar 2 requirements, in charge of mapping intercompany flows and prepare local file for transfer pricing purposes.
* Provide UK and European tax technical support, including obligations arising from the UK’s adoption of the OECD’s transfer pricing rules and Pillar 2 requirements as part of a Multinational Enterprise Group within the scope.
* Working closely with Finance and other parts of the Global Tax team to assess the impact that UK tax audits and other UK tax risks will have on the Group’s tax provision on uncertain tax positions, providing calculations to support the provisions to meet the requirements of IFRIC23.
* Supporting Senior Accounting Officer and other compliance and transparency obligations as required under the regime for large companies.
* Internal control; ensuring compliance with the Europcar tax internal controls programme.
* From time to time, ensuring compliance with UK Customs requirements post Brexit, and maintaining Customs authorisations, including EORI and UKIMS.
* Reviewing and advising on tax matters associated with property related transactions and also general changes to UK tax laws.
* Ability to identify value-added and process improvement opportunities, including working with European SSC to optimise processing and minimise errors.
* Supporting HR / Payroll with queries relating to employment taxes.
* Assistance and advice in any UK tax topic
* Perform tax training if needed to local team(s).
* Business partnering with both UK Finance and Commercial colleagues to ensure UK tax issues and potential solutions are communicated fully and keeping the wider Global Tax team apprised of this and maintenance of a UK tax risk register.
* Contributing to Finance Transformation initiatives and systems implementations which impacts the UK tax wise and working with corporate and UK based Finance teams on this.
* UK / Ireland Contact point for Group tax director.
* Participate in special projects and refinancing activity.
* Providing support to Europcar Ireland where necessary on tax matters.

* MTD for VAT Enhancement: Actively improves processes for Making Tax Digital (MTD) compliance concerning VAT.
* Complex Tax Calculation Experience: Hands-on experience in handling intricate deferred tax calculations.
* Expert Advisory Role: Proficient in functioning within a tax team of a UK-based headquarters or in a senior advisory capacity for large multinational clients.
* Skilled in liaising with HMRC.
* Tax Systems Competency: Familiarity with tax systems such as Alphatax, demonstrating practical experience.
* Securitisation and Leasing Knowledge: Advantageous experience in securitization and leasing within a tax context.
* Beneficial if background in restructuring groups and simplifying corporate structures.
* IFRS Standards Proficiency: Good understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
* Adaptability and Flexibility: Capable of adjusting priorities when other finance demands take precedence.
* Self-Motivation and Organizational Skills: Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and organized in handling tasks.
