Cargo Handler

Full time, shift work- 2 days 2 nights 4 off. 12 hour shifts. 0600-1800 or 1800 – 0600
Salary of £27,823.52 per annum
Provisional start date (21st March 2025)
At RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire, Serco has been providing multi-activity and engineering support since 1997. Serco proudly support the RAF and MoD, supplying around 20 different services onsite, from engine and aircraft maintenance, to fuelling and ground control services. RAF Brize Norton is the largest operating base within the Royal Air Force, providing air transport and air-to-air refuelling to the RAF fleet.
We have an exciting opportunity to join the team as a Cargo Handler at RAF Brize Norton in Oxford. You’ll be responsible to help with all aspects of Cargo.
Main accountabilities:
* Checking the safety and serviceability of all mechanical handling aids used by Shift Air Cargo relevant to personal driving qualifications.
* Dragging cargo and mail for outbound flights ensuring that the drag sheets are clearly annotated to show the number of pieces selected for loading. The completed drag sheet is to be signed by the senior person present during the drag.
* Ensuring all items presented for the drag are scanned onto the VITAL scanner (consignment tracking system)
* Observing all safety aspects concerning the safe movement of vehicles at all times.
* Ensuring the correct handling and segregation as required for any Dangerous Goods (DG) items / Special handling items during load builds & ensuring details are annotated on pallet cards and drag sheets.
* Maintain condition and asset locations of the VITAL scanners (consignment tracking system) / docking cradles and report and damage / missing items.
* Ensuring that correct PPE is always used.
What you'll need to do the role:
* UK Full Driving License
* Full colour perception for airfield
* Experience in IT systems including Microsoft Outlook etc
* Dangerous Goods Awareness (desirable)
* Experience/qualification in VITAL systems (consignment tracking system) (desirable)
* Counter balance Forklift (desirable)
