An opportunity has arisen to join our brilliant and well-established pharmacy procurement team as the Lead Technician Procurement and Supply.
We are looking for a motivated Technician with experience in one or more areas to help shape the future of the procurement and stores service here at East Lancashire Hospital.
You will be responsible for:
* managing the maintenance, development and delivery of procurement services in line with the national and regional MPSC (Medicine Procurement Supply Chain) contracts, standards, guidelines, local policies and procedures.
* supervision and management of the team of technicians and assistants involved in the delivery of the pharmacy procurement and supply service.
* representing the pharmacy department/Trust at relevant meetings both on and off site, often with external service providers and clinicians.
* responding to enquiries from all Trust staff and service users and deal with any queries as required, often of a highly complex nature.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will:
* be approachable and helpful and communicate effectively in a professional and timely manner.
* take an active role in meetings including regular regional procurement meetings, and all internal meetings, such as the senior technician meetings. Must be able to chair meetings, and record notes and actions.
* ensure team members are fully briefed and provide feedback on actions and outcomes.
* deal with any complaints and feed back the outcome in a timely manner. Ensure corrective measures are implemented to prevent reoccurrence.
* produce and disseminate service plans and strategy to team members.
* take personal responsibility to read minutes/Team Brief/Trust Bulletins and encourage this within the entire team.
* develop and maintain communication with people about difficult matters or difficult situations, in an appropriate, supportive and empathic manner to achieve satisfactory outcomes.
* liaise with the pharmacy team and ward staff regarding supply problems and take appropriate action to resolve any issues in a timely manner.
* assist in the preparation, maintenance, review and management of standard operating procedures. Ensure that all relevant staff read them, either as a new staff member or when procedures are written/updated.

Person specification
Qualifications
* BTEC National in Pharmaceutical science, NVQ3 or equivalent
* Registration with GPhC
Experience
* Recent evidence of advanced practice in pharmacy procurement and supply
* Have a working knowledge of the financial aspects of pharmacy procurement, such as contracts, PAS, invoice queries and off contract claims
* Experience of working as a system superuser
* Understanding of HR policies and legislation
* Record of success in service development or change implementation
* Experience of managing pharmacy services
* Contribution to departmental waste reduction programmes
Knowledge
* Understanding law and ethics of pharmacy, such as medicines act, MHRA or GDP
* Good interpersonal and communication skills/teamworking
* Thorough understanding of pharmacy procurement and stores within the NHS
* Adaptable to changes in working environment
* Implementation and assessment of audits
