Empowering Learning are working alongside a school in the Mickleover area (DE3) who are looking to appoint a sports & learning mentor to work across their KS2 cohort. The role is full time and initially on a fixed term contract starting October 2024. The role has the potential to become permanent for the right person.
The hours of work are 8:30-4:00 and working days are Monday to Friday.
The main duties within this role will be:
Working closely with pupils who present with challenging behaviour Leading sports sessions at break and lunchtimes Providing 1:1 support to children in class Using sports as a way to mentor children De-escalating situations where children have showed extreme behaviours Leading academic interventions with children working below age expected levels Assisting the class teacher with the set up of lessons Liaising with the class teacher and school SENCO around progress of the pupils The school are looking for someone who:
Holds a TA qualification or relevant degree Holds at least one sports based qualification Has had either TeamTeach training or MAPA Training (Desirable not essential) Previously supported children with challenging behaviours Has an understanding of supporting SEN pupils Can inspire pupils to reach their full potential The application for this role ends on 16th October 2024.
