Overview
The Reliability Technician is accountable, under regular supervision, for the installation, monitoring, diagnosis, repair, and preventive maintenance of electronic, pneumatic, mechanical and hydraulic instrumentation and controls on rotating and auxiliary equipment in a designated area of a natural gas pipeline system.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
* Assist in performing various testing (ultrasonic, vibration, emissions, etc.) and recording of data on related equipment and systems
* Acquire the skills necessary to perform both routine and advanced analyses of tests under supervision
* Assist in diagnoses and communicating the results to Leadership
* Assist in the installation and maintenance of Reliability related devices, systems, and equipment
* Receive work-related guidance from other Reliability Technicians
* Become qualified on Common Covered Tasks (OQ) as deemed necessary by the Mechanical Services Management
Maintenance, Troubleshooting, & Prevention
* Operate 2- and 4-Cycle engines and turbines
* Develop strong knowledge of pneumatic and electronic controls and sensing equipment, Including Allen-Bradley PLC Control Systems, and all types of process transmitters, sensors, and transducers
* Use diagnostic equipment for troubleshooting and data collection
* Develop strong knowledge of electrical systems up to 120/240/480 VAC and 24 V DC and how to use multi-meter for troubleshooting
* Install, repair, service and maintain station valves, valve operators, and including relief valves
* Develop strong knowledge of Emergency Shutdown Systems, including Fire and Gas detection systems as well as piping, valves and control signals
* Ensure the reliable and efficient performance of all engines and associated facilities
* Develop a working knowledge of the operations of engine/compressor and auxiliary equipment, motors, cooling equipment, pumps and related equipment
* Develop knowledge of operation of engines and compressors as well as associated compressor station controls
* Assist with planning, scheduling, and performance of reliability centered maintenance of equipment
* Develop knowledge of applicable inventory management to keep appropriate levels of spare material to assist with proactive maintenance
* Develop knowledge of gas dehydration systems and controls
Compliance
* Understand and comply with applicable Company policies and procedures, maintenance manuals, federal, state and local regulations, and safety policies and procedures
* Schedule and track maintenance and calibration activities with maintenance management software
* Identify and report safety and environmental concerns
* Complete required documentation and paperwork in a timely manner
* Complete required Common Covered Tasks as assigned
Analysis
* Read, interpret, and recommend modifications to blueprints, schematics, control drawings, engine manuals and pipeline maps
* Make recommendations to enhance safety, reliability, and efficiency of operations
Training & Collaboration
* Assist Operations personnel in performing technical and non-technical tasks
* Assist engineering personnel with construction activities
* Assist Operations Control in establishing safe efficient operations
* Attend job-related training when applicable
* Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum:
* Associate degree or education related to internal combustion engines and gas turbines or electronics or equivalent work experience.
* Work experience working in the natural gas industry or a related field
* Valid driver’s license and insurability
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to work effectively and lead others in a team environment
* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
* Experience using Microsoft Office programs (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint), or related program
* Ability to make sound decisions independently
* Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
* Requirements may include technical certification through an appropriate outside organization
