The department The immigration team is part of the Employment practice in the firm. The immigration team is composed of 1 partner, 2 associates and 2 trainees. You will be working directly with the partner Sacha Schoenfeld and two associates to assist on providing immigration services to clients. The opportunity Main Purposes The job holder will primarily be responsible with supporting the whole team in providing immigration services to clients, either directly or via the supervising partner/associate working on/running the case within the timescales required, and to assist and ensure with the delivery of the Immigration Growth strategy plan. Responsibilities Key Tasks: Help in the preparation and submission of in-country applications and applications from posts abroad: booking appointments for biometric attendance, ensuring correct process and fee payment, assessing required documentary support and eligibility, drafting forms, arranging in-person attendance. Assisting the team and clients and their employees with the planning, preparation and submission of applications, and all necessary follow-up, including initial advice on process, form filling, verifying information; being available for consultation by telephone and email where necessary Sponsor licensing: preparing tailored Appendix A document lists, assisting the immigration team with pre-licensing due diligence and audit, undertaking background research into client commercial profile and corporate structure CoS preparation and assignment; requesting and reviewing initial information and documents for issue of CoS; identifying potential problems; making required applications /requests (eg for undefined CoS allocation increase & Defined CoS applications) Taking on & assisting with legal research into primary and secondary sources of law, UKVI guidance and practice, case law and processes as directed/required Financial administration, to include where necessary working with LA team to ensure timely and efficient financial administration of immigration cases including filing fees, disbursements and prepayments, and escalating any problems to supervising associates and partners. Supporting marketing activities to include assisting team members as directed with background research, making effective use of the firm’s tools and systems to support specific departmental business development initiatives, liaising with the Marketing department as require and assisting with the preparation of business development materials Working with the team on development of presentation/articles, etc for presentation at marketing events internally and externally Personal attributes and skills Understanding and interest in immigration law with some previous experience of working in the field Some knowledge and experience of UKVI (Home Office) & related systems A flexible, supportive and co-operative approach to work is a key requirement of the role. In addition, a positive attitude is a prerequisite. Suitable training will be provided to any candidate who is successful in applying for the role.
