West View Children’s home provides support and care for the most vulnerable children. The home is a mainstream provision for three children and young people between the ages of 10 – 18 years old on admission, both male and female all of whom demonstrate complex and often highly challenging behaviours.
Nottinghamshire County Council believes it is important to create an environment where young people’s individual spiritual, cultural, educational, health, leisure and life experiences are met in a non-institutional way. We therefore strive to create and maintain a homely, welcoming atmosphere where young people feel safe, cared for, valued and respected. Therefore the overriding principle at Westview is that the children cared for should have an experience that is as enjoyable as possible, in a safe, healthy, and relaxed environment which enables them to reach their full potential.

4. Empowering children by offering choices whenever possible and by giving opportunities to experiment and encourage independence.
5. Treating each child with respect, taking into consideration race, gender, culture, religion, and sexual orientation.
6. Treating parents/carers with respect, having awareness of their position, and applying a non-judgemental approach.
7. Involving children and their families and/or carers in the decisions that affect their lives.
The Key Responsibilities Of The Role Are As Follows:
1. A good knowledge of the Children's Homes Regulations and the Ofsted inspection framework.
2. An understanding and ability to prioritise safeguarding children and young people and ensure positive outcomes through creative and innovative methods and solutions.
3. A robust understanding of the complex challenges relating to leadership and management in a residential childcare setting.
4. A ‘can do’, solution focused, attitude that leads and inspires the team.
5. An ability to understand and foster an inclusive and positive team culture.
6. A robust understanding of a strength-based, individualised, and proactive leadership approach underpinned by collaboration and effective assessment and risk management.
7. Have a strong focus on team performance and development using supervision and performance management to support staff and identify improvements.
8. Proven ability to build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders, staff, and children in often challenging situations.
9. An adaptable and flexible mindset to navigate the dynamic and ever-changing nature of residential care.
10. You must have 3 years’ experience of working with children and young people in a managerial capacity within a residential setting and a minimum of 2 years working with children.
