About The Role
You will be providing counselling, information, referrals and coordination for clients and their families in crisis or need of support, primarily those navigating cancer or palliative care needs. You will work in collaboration with our Oncology and Palliative care teams and will have access to support from the wider community health team.
This position will see you work across acute services, palliative care services and cancer care services. Whilst you will be located in Moree, you may provide outreach to persons within the surrounding areas.
To aid your success in this role, you will receive mentoring from experienced Social Workers, as well as clinical supervision and education as required and online learning opportunities.
Where You’ll Be Working
Nestled in the stunning Gwydir Valley of northwest New South Wales, Moree is a peaceful town known for its rejuvenating atmosphere. Weekends can be spent indulging in the thermal springs at the Moree Artesian Aquatic Centre, or for those looking for more excitement, the Moree Water Park is a must-visit destination during the warmer months. Direct flights between Moree and Sydney operate six days a week for your convenience.
Moree Health Service is home to an acute facility with an Emergency Department, acute inpatient unit, maternity unit, renal unit, chemotherapy and infusion unit, operating theatre, and community health department. You will be joining a team of experienced and supportive Social Workers onsite, who are focused on providing positive outcomes for clients.
About You
We are looking for someone who is motivated, organised and resilient, and who understands the complex impact of cancer on clients, families, carers and communities. You will display your prior experience providing culturally appropriate and competent services and programs. You will have excellent communication and leadership skills, as well as an exceptional work ethic and time management skills.
Requirements
* Bachelor in Social Work or equivalent with eligibility for membership with Australian Association of Social Work (AASW)

* To be eligible for permanent employment in this position you must be an Australian Citizen, or a permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport.
