SEN Teaching Assistant - Make a Meaningful Impact!
Location: Wakefield, West Yorkshire
Salary: £11.72 - £12.78 per hour (Actual salary: £19,370.70 - £21,122.66, depending on experience) ...
Hours: 37 hours per week - Term Time Only
Do you have a passion for supporting young people with special educational needs? We are seeking dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to join our team and work with students aged 11-19 who have diverse needs such as autism, learning difficulties, and communication challenges. Key Responsibilities:
Support Learning:
Work with teachers to create a nurturing and engaging learning environment.
Individualised Support:
Provide one-on-one or small group assistance, tailored to the sensory and communication needs of each student.
Build Trusting Relationships:
Develop supportive and positive relationships with students, helping them feel safe and valued.
Encourage Positive Behaviour:
Implement creative strategies to promote positive behaviour, adapting to each student's unique needs.
Assist with Personal Care:
Provide personal care when needed, while upholding the dignity and respect of the students.
What We're Looking For:
1. Experience working with SEN students (paid or voluntary).
2. A Level 2 or higher qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (preferred but not essential).
3. GCSEs in Maths and English (Grade C/Level 2 or above) - required.
4. Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection.
5. A flexible, creative approach to meeting students' individual learning needs.
