Pastoral Support This specialist school is based in Burnley (BB12) caters for pupils aged 11-16 years who all require additional support pupils with SEMH difficulties. Many children often display challenging behaviours and cannot access their education due to difficulties with their mental health and poor well-being. All pupils in this school have an EHCP to support their SEMH needs. Specialist Secondary School based in Burnley (BB12) No education related qualifications required Qualifications in psychology, counselling or similar is desirable but not required Competitive hourly rate of pay (£ p/h) Start date: November 2024 The school are seeking a Pastoral Support Worker to provide further support on both a 1:1 and small group basis. The successful individual will be working with the pupils to manage their behaviour by providing pupils with coping mechanisms and activities to promote a calm and respectful environment. This will help the pupils to feel safe and nurtured whilst in school. As a Pastoral Support Worker, you may be required to be in close contact with pupils’ families and other outside agencies to provide pupils with full support. You will need to differentiate your planning, teaching, and activities to meet the needs of each pupil you are supporting. Within this role, the support may not be restricted to solely supporting the pupil in school, you may be expected to support family members during this time i.e., providing them with strategies that could possibly be implemented outside of school to ensure that the routine and strategies are the consistent. To be successful in the role, you will need to be committed positive role model for the pupils, where they feel relaxed, safe and respected. Most of the pupils may not have a stable support system around them outside of school, so providing that stable support whilst they are in school is paramount for their development.
