West Suffolk Swimming Club (WSSC) in West Suffolk is looking for a highly motivated, experienced and committed coach, looking to take the next step in their career.
WSSC is a well-established and friendly Swim Mark-accredited club based out of Bury St Edmunds, Culford and Haverhill in Suffolk. We operate a pathway with swimmers from stage 6 out of our swim scheme, to county, regional and national levels. Members have also gone on to represent Great Britain at international level. We have around 260 members across our squads. This role offers an opportunity for the right candidate to play a major role in shaping the club's future. We are looking for someone with these 5 key attributes:

* Able to work effectively with our Head Coach to ensure the club's strategy is implemented, helping all our swimmers to maximise their potential.
* Confident in providing both leadership and support to our team of dedicated coaches and teachers.
* Able to adapt their approach to successfully engage with swimmers of varying abilities and aspirations.
* Keen to inspire through their enthusiasm.
Key Responsibilities
* Coaching and Development:
o Deliver and plan sessions as directed by the Head Coach.
o Deliver technique-focused, skill-enhancing sessions.
o Track swimmer attendance, set targets, and ensure training evolves to meet their objectives.
o Promote participation in competitions, advise on event selection, and attend competitions as required.
* Communication and Teamwork:
o Maintain proactive communication with swimmers, parents, and coaching colleagues.
o Handle any inquiries or complaints professionally and escalate where necessary.
o Attend weekly coach meetings.
* Quality Assurance and Safety:
o Adhere to all child protection policies and the WSSC code of conduct.
o Manage site responsibilities, including pool safety checks and first aid, as necessary.
* Administration Duties:
o Complete necessary administration, including registers, ensuring swimmer attendance is up to date.
o Annual cyclic training plans and schemes of work for foundation squads.
o Support the Head Coach with new intake sessions and parent introduction meetings.
* Additional Duties:
o Communicate effectively with participants, and focus on member satisfaction.
o Represent WSSC professionally at competitions, galas, and other required events.
o Liaise closely with pool providers to build relationships and raise the level of swimming in the area.
o Quarterly / Annual Squad meetings and classroom sessions where required.
The role is a part-time role of up to 20 hours and will include morning and evening training sessions across the week.
The successful candidate will at minimum hold a Swim England Swimming Coach Certificate or ASA Level 2 Coaching Award.
