About this opportunity
We are looking for a pro-active and ambitious candidate to join as a senior member of our Regional Building Surveying team. Based in Manchester with responsibility of managing and growing the existing team locally whilst being part of a regional SMT to deliver growth and service excellence across our North England Region.
You will be supported by the regional team and your responsibilities will include managing customer relationships and establishing new accounts, bidding, and raising our profile by attending business development events locally.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. Supporting business unit directors in delivering business objectives;
2. Positively engaging with customers and developing, growing, and maintaining customer relationships;
3. Delivering high quality services and ensuring that building surveying deliverables meet the customer’s requirements;
4. Managing building surveying commissions, including surveys, dilapidation advice, party wall advice, and construction projects for new builds, renovations, and maintenance works – from feasibility through to design, contract administration to handover and post completion reviews;
5. Communicating with, and providing good, sound, professional advice to both clients and other project team members;
6. Leading and managing teams working for you; ensuring that they are correctly fulfilling their project functions providing mentoring and coaching when required;
7. Mentoring and coaching employees so that they realise their full potential;
8. Preparing bids for services;
9. Managing service delivery for profit.

Who we’re looking for:
Experience, Knowledge and Key Skills
1. Broad, in-depth Building Surveying experience post MRICS qualification;
2. Detailed knowledge and practical experience of delivery of building surveying tasks;
3. Sound knowledge of construction methods and materials;
4. Comprehensive knowledge of construction procurement strategies, including tendering and contract strategies;
5. Ability to administer construction contracts as Contracts Administrator and Employers Agent;
6. Clear understanding of legislation impacting on building contracts;
7. Ability to motivate others (including providing support and encouragement) and to lead high performance teams;
8. Clear and effective communication skills – both oral and written;
9. Excellent organisational skills and the ability to quickly adapt to changes;
10. Excellent problem solving, negotiating skills, financial and numeracy management skills;
11. Ability to absorb complex information and assess requirements readily;
12. Sound ICT Skills, with a high level of proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
13. Competent at negotiating sufficient fees to both complete services and generate required profit levels;
14. Ability to work as part of a team and lead teams.
