We have an exciting opportunity for an electrically biased Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our team at Agrial Fresh Produce in Wigan. The primary accountability is to provide safe and highly reliable equipment to manufacturing colleagues, achieved through a healthy balance of hands-on competence, equipment knowledge, analysis of equipment performance and strong communication skills.
Working hours: 2 day, 2 nights, 4 on 4 off. Continental Shift: 07:00 to 19:00, 19:00 to 07:00.
Main Responsibilities
1. Execute hands-on planned and unplanned maintenance activities to agreed standards, ensuring safe working always.
2. Ensure that assets are ready to produce products that are of an excellent quality, dispatched on time in full to customers.
3. Ensure a robust and clearly communicated safe system of work is applied for all activities that you undertake – properly risk assessed.
4. Coach and train colleagues in order to provide a thorough understanding to all, with an aim to achieve continual improvements in equipment knowledge and performance.
5. Build a culture of professional engineering and proactive equipment-focussed continuous improvement with a strong emphasis on integrity.
Skills and Experience Required
1. Technical hands-on Engineering experience, preferably through recognised time-served apprenticeship within food manufacturing.
2. Educated to NVQ Level 3 ideally in electrical engineering but also with understanding in mechanical constructs.
3. Technical qualifications and competence in BTEC Engineering certificate/equivalent qualification.
4. Broad knowledge of Pneumatics, Electrical & PLC/Inverter Assets.
5. Skills and capability to logically diagnose and fault find on a variety of equipment/situations.
6. Experience of risk assessing maintenance activity and controlling safe working regulations.
7. Strong evidence of good interpersonal, communications and customer engagement skills.
