Applications are invited for a Locum Consultant in Palliative Medicine to join the Tayside Palliative Care Team, based at Cornhill Macmillan Centre, Perth Royal Infirmary, Perth.
This post represents an exciting opportunity to work in the specialist palliative care unit with input when possible to the acute hospital setting and community-facing services. Teams for all three settings are based in Cornhill Macmillan Centre and form part of a multidisciplinary team.
Tayside Specialist Palliative Care Service
NHS Tayside serves a population of approximately 415,000 people over the local councils of Perth and Kinross, Dundee, and Angus. It also accommodates patients from North East Fife. Tayside Specialist Palliative Care Service aims to provide quality care appropriate to location and level of complexity. Education and telephone advice for all health professionals are core activities of the service.
Specialist Palliative Care in Perth & Kinross
Cornhill Macmillan Centre is a 10-bed purpose-built NHS palliative care unit in the grounds of Perth Royal Infirmary. It has an experienced Multidisciplinary Team and serves as a base for the hospital palliative care team and the community-facing team. There are strong links with Dundee Medical School for delivering undergraduate education and various post-graduate education events.
The successful applicant will work closely with other consultants, specialty doctors, and the wider multidisciplinary team. The post includes sharing medical leadership for the in-patient unit, cross-cover for the Hospital Palliative Care Team, and support for the Community Team. On-call for weekends and weeknights covers all of Tayside, is third on call, non-resident, and remunerated by 0.7 PA plus a 5% availability supplement. Frequency is 1:7 weekends and weeknights.
Minimum Requirements:
Applicants must be fully registered with the General Medical Council and have CCT or CESR in Palliative Medicine.
