Network Engineer
Location: Farnborough, with travel as required to client premises
Working Pattern: 4-5 days per week on-site

The Role:
Parico is seeking a talented Network Engineer who is smart, curious and prospers against the challenge of working closely with a small business to solve complex and challenging problems across the Public Sector landscape. You’ll have the freedoms to be truly innovative to roll up your sleeves, get stuck into the detail of systems, and generally do what it takes to achieve incredible technical solutions to our customer’s complex problems.
You will be part of a team developing greenfield systems and services for our clients, using cloud services and on-premise infrastructure components. You’ll have the opportunity to shape operational platforms and services within a close-knit technical team. You’ll have the freedom to apply your knowledge and experience whilst also recommending further technical ‘good practice’ and improvements to enhance all infrastructure capabilities.
Responsibilities include:
Significant depth of experience of de-risking, and implementing network technologies including:
* In-depth understanding of routing protocols, internal and external, Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), and Border Gateway Protocol (BGP).
* Detailed implementation knowledge of core network technologies and infrastructure:
* Leaf and Spine network architecture;
* Overlay networks such as VXLAN or GENEVE;
* Dynamic Multipoint VPN (DMVPN) and FlexVPN Solutions;
* Firewall Intrusion Protection Service (IPS) / Intrusion Detection Service (IDS)
* Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting (AAA) Management Platform
* Advanced knowledge of routers, switches and firewalls product lines and vendor licensing models;
* Configuration of Wide Area Networks, high grade encryption devices and Differentiated Services Code Point (DSCP) traffic management.
* Security implementations such as AAA, 802.1x and proxy services in line with the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) good practice guides.
* Able to interact, contribute and engage with technical discussions with senior stakeholders and act as the technical lead for engagements.
Our Ideal Candidate:
* A comprehensive and detailed understanding of modern private cloud datacentre architectures, including detailed and extensive experience in configuring and deploying networks across a wide range of scenarios.
* A proven track record for delivering several large-scale IT projects, with direct responsibility for designing and implementing highly available and resilient networking solutions including active-active failover for business continuity.
* Rationalising network designs & their alignment against architectural best practice.
* Detailed understanding of all aspects of Quality of Service (Traffic Shaping, Policing, Scheduling, Congestion Management and Avoidance).
* Exceptional communication skills with diverse and adverse audiences - Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
* Demonstrable experiencing of working with Enterprise Systems, Platforms and Networks within both a datacentre environment and a cloud environment.
* Working as part of an Agile development team.
* Have demonstrable sector knowledge or experience within UK Defence (Army, Air force or Royal Navy).
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Must either hold UK security clearance or be eligible to obtain clearance.
* Hold a UK Driving Licence and have a willingness to travel to client sites.
Essential Qualifications:
* Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or similar.
