Our client, a leading contractor in the Water & Civil Engineering industry, is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join their team in London. Youll support project delivery teams and senior management, developing both existing and new skills within a collaborative environment. Your role will ensure the successful management of various civil engineering projects while meeting all contractual requirements.
Experience- Working for a similar sized contractor, Water or Utilities experience - Thames Water contractor previously (Desirable) - Previous experience in the construction industry. - Familiarity with IChemE/ NEC forms of contract and knowledge and understanding of Construction Law. - Previous experience in commercial management and procurement of subcontractors, including chairing regular meetings, measurement and control cycle, certificates, and accruals calculations. - Demonstrable experience of monthly forecasting and cost analysis. - Excellent communication, numeric and computer literacy skills, proficient in Microsoft Office. - Excellent organisation and time management skills, with the ability to work effectively to tight deadlines. - Member of RICS or other relevant professional body, or working towards. (Desirable) - CSCS card (Desirable) - HND/degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying. (Desirable) - Demonstrable knowledge and experience in estimation. (Desirable) - Experience working for a direct delivery contractor. (Desirable) - An engaging communicator with problem-solving skills. (Desirable)
Job Responsibilities- Provide accurate and timely cost and value reporting for both project and business unit levels.- Manage cash flow reporting and project forecasting.- Draft and update monthly CVR, cost, and commercial plans.- Prepare payment applications and manage cash flow.- Oversee subcontract procurement, negotiation, and financial accounting.- Prepare project payment applications through to final account settlement.- Liaise with clients and third parties on commercial issues, including contractual changes and claims.- Work with project teams to forecast expenditure and cash recovery in line with business expectations.- Advise site teams on cost management and efficiencies.- Identify and realize commercial opportunities, protecting the company from risks.- Effectively manage contracts, primarily IChemE and NEC forms.- Ensure contracts align with corporate governance and identify/manage commercial risks and opportunities.- Procure and manage subcontracted works, ensuring appropriate contract terms.- Build and maintain supply chain relationships.- Ensure compliance with internal commercial processes and timeframes.- Seek continuous improvement in processes and procedures.
