A bit about us
We are looking for a Casual Maintenance Worker at our Birmingham Animal Hospital and Centre located in Frankley. Our state of the art facilities in 72 acres of countryside provide the best care for those animals that have been abused, rescued from harm and need specialist treatment. We aim to find life-long new homes for animals at the centre.
Working hours: This is a casual role where the post-holder will work as and when shifts arise, for example when staff members are sick or on annual leave, or during particularly busy periods.
Are you ready to be part of our journey and make a difference?
What a day might look like for you
Working alongside our supportive team of Maintenance Workers, you will primarily be helping us to spruce up our grounds and gardens, as well as lending a hand indoors with DIY tasks. There will also be an element of emergency and planned maintenance tasks.
Duties will include:
* Maintaining gardens and grounds to a high standard. Knowledge of trees and plants would be an advantage.
* Health and safety knowledge - we have regular site inspections checks.
* Proven experience in a grounds or gardening role.
* Ability and willingness to undertake routine maintenance such as painting and decorating.
* Good diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
* A full driving licence.
* Computer skills - our team use our computer systems to report maintenance problems so you will need to have a basic understanding of IT.
It would be great if you also had experience of using ride on mowers, tractors and land management equipment, however full training will be provided.
Successful candidates for certain RSPCA roles will need to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK as we are unable to sponsor visas.
Final note from us & good luck with your application!
We are really lucky that some of our roles attract a high level of interest, and for this reason we review applications as they are received. Unfortunately on some occasions this means roles may close earlier than advertised, so early submissions are highly recommended.
We do try to give feedback where we can but sometimes, due to receiving high levels of applications, this may not always be possible.
We recognise that a diverse and inclusive workforce is essential to achieving our core mission. For this reason we actively encourage a wide diversity of applications, in particular from members of minority ethnic groups, and people with disabilities, as these candidates are currently under-represented at the RSPCA.
