It is a dynamic environment where you will be in the hub of things, in contact with many different people with different needs and requirements. You will be supporting: Customers using the council’s Lifeline telecare service Emergency services, sharing information to resolve presenting problems Our CCTV system and the council’s out-of-hours service Users of Automatic Number Plate Registration (ANPR) car parks People accessing the city centre through the bollard security cordon Working pattern: Central Control is staffed 24/7 every day of the year, including bank and public holidays. Central Control Room Operators cover an 8-week rolling rota, working a pattern of day, day, night, night, followed by 4 days off. Days are 6am-6pm, nights 6pm-6am Permanent contract The role is site-based for the duration of each rota duty About you, the ideal Central Control Room Operator: What we are looking for in a Central Control Room Operator, is you clearly demonstrate, from previous roles and life experiences, that you: Have very good communication skills, listening, speaking, as well as written/typed for recording information that may need to be used in the future Can accurately and timely enter and retrieve information on electronic recording systems, as well as using email Have experience working within established policies and procedures Can work flexibly as the job is not Monday-Friday, 9 am-5 pm Can be an effective member of a team in a supportive team environment It is the person, and their skills and abilities to support Central Control we are looking for. This could be demonstrated from having worked in another control room, or similar, but this is not essential as experience can be transferable and some specific skills learnt.
