The Scottish Prison Service (SPS) is an Agency of the Scottish Government, working in partnership with organisations in the public, private and voluntary sectors to deliver safe and secure custodial services that empower offenders to take responsibility and to fulfil their potential. We employ over 4500 people in a diverse range of professions across our 13 prisons, Headquarters and the SPS College.
We are looking for an Islamic Chaplaincy Advisor to work with teams across the estate, however the roles is based in Headquarters. However this role is open to hybrid working, meaning we won't specify how many days must be worked in the office, but rather based on business needs, expectations and a degree of personal choice. About the role
The post holder will be accountable for working collaboratively as part of the HQ Chaplaincy Advisors Team who are responsible for the implementation of the SPS Chaplaincy Framework and the corresponding Standards and Audit Assurance Framework across all Scottish prisons. A key aspect of the role will be maintaining liaison and professional relationships with the recognised Islamic representative on the Prison Chaplaincy Steering Group (PCSG); representing SPS on a range of forums (both internally and externally); interfacing with Islamic organisations and communities within Scotland to promote SPS. As well as being responsible for providing corporate oversight into the delivery of pastoral, spiritual and religious care by Islamic chaplains throughout Scottish prisons, and to prison Governors and Senior Managers in accordance with the Chaplaincy Framework. About You
The successful candidate will:
* Possess a recognised qualification in Islamic Studies at 'Alimiyyah / Graduate level Or demonstrate in-depth knowledge of Islam at an equivalent level
* Be proficient in Tajweed (correct pronunciation of Arabic)
* In-depth knowledge and understanding of: the role of Imam.
* Excellent written and analytical skills and experience of interpreting complex information.
* Experience of working effectively to bring together the views and expertise of a range of partners and stakeholders.
* Have a proven record of Interpretation, development and implementation of how Islamic teaching translates into delivery in a way that supports SPS policy/guidance and audited standards.
