The role of the Head of Group Compliance ensures the effective implementation and operation of Arriva Group Compliance Policies. This role is based with colleagues from our Sunderland office, a minimum of 2 days per week with the rest focusing on where you can best deliver, whilst still allowing for the required work life balance. The role operates Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week with 1 hour lunch per day. Key responsibilities of the role include: Develop an understanding of best practice across the group for managing the Arriva Group’s three lines of defence model relating to key legal and regulatory policies and general Compliance. Ensuring that adequate defence procedures, including third party representative procedures, are in place and refreshed as needed. Develop, implement and conduct compliance training programs in conjunction with third party advisors/consultants. Review and update existing programs for improvements and updates needed due to revisions in laws and regulations. Drive the efficiency and effectiveness of compliance globally through thought leadership, innovation and influence. Pro-actively, with confidence and credibility, keep key stakeholders, including the Arriva Group Strategic Board, Arriva Executive Management Board, and senior management, informed on emerging trends, developments and practices relevant to the management of the company and influence change to meet these changes. Work jointly with the business in developing recommendations and plans for remediation of key compliance risks. Effective management of relationships with relevant global regulators. Manage the compliance budget. Negotiate and resolve issues with meaningful solutions both internally and externally Interpreting and analysing a large volume of information and/or data and provide succinct summary for management. Lead change, contributing and pro-actively joining up with the other teams in the Group including global and regional functions. Develop practical, cost-effective solutions to complex global issues. Manage and lead compliance function based in the centre and at local levels. Reporting: Ensure effective and efficient compliance reporting to Arriva Group and our shareholder I Squared Capital working with Compliance Officers across the Arriva Group. Management and development of compliance reporting framework and processes. Manage Whistleblowing investigation and reporting processes. What we'd like from you We’re looking for a qualified candidate with extensive experience of working in an organization with an international compliance footprint. Candidates must also demonstrate: Excellent stakeholder management, ability to manage and influence remotely, comprehensive relationship and business partner skills are essential. Broad understanding and experience of in house legal and compliance. Ability to provide a service that is high quality, commercially attuned and responsive to the needs of the business. Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment. Self-starter who can plan ahead and see their way through ambiguity. Good management skills, natural communication verbally, written and numerically with excellent people skills and ability to work collaboratively across their team and wider business. Ability to work as a member of a cross discipline and cross functional team. Proactiveness in research relating to applicable legal issues, and confidence in providing advice relating to these matters to senior stakeholders within the business. Influential and motivational skills and the confidence to deal effectively and professionally with a variety of people at all levels. Efficiency in MS Office, and an overall working knowledge of computing. A structured and organized approach within their delivery, able to identify priorities and work to deadline with ease. Drive, open mindedness and willingness to adopt new working methods and initiatives to support continuous improvement for Arriva Group.
