Position Summary
The vacancy is for an AV & Technology Manager who will play a critical role in the day-to-day technical operations of FRAMELESS at Marble Arch and FRAMELESS Touring immersive experiences. The AV & Technology Manager will manage a central AV team responsible for the technical oversight of our permanent and touring immersive experiences, as well as the timely delivery of all creative content for corporate events. The role reports directly into the CTO.
The AV & Technology Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day technical operations of the projection systems, media servers, sound and LED display equipment at the experience.
In addition, they will support the technical set-up and operation of regular live events taking place throughout the galleries.
The role is predominately based at our permanent venue, requiring occasional early morning and late evening work as well as being on-call for system outages or failures. The role also involves limited travel to the locations of our touring experiences
Main Duties – Day to Day Venue Operations
* The effective day-to-day operation of the technology employed to deliver the visitor experience and our touring experiences including https://npgunframed.com/.
* Manage the direct report AV technicians, including creating shift rotas, allocating maintenance tasks and leading regular team meetings.
* Build and manage a bank regular and reliable freelance staff.
* Overall technical delivery of circa 100 corporate events a year, working closely with the Content Manager, AV Account Manager, AV Project Manager.
* Liaison with corporate event customers, checking and approving production RAMS for those events.
* Working closely with third party partners including F&B providers, AV production partners, other event contractors where necessary.
* Generally assisting all venue staff in relation to use of the technology.
* Serve as a member of the Incident Response team, guiding and supporting senior management, in the event of IT/technical disruption
Main Duties – Maintenance & Operation of Equipment
Maintenance of equipment throughout the experience. In particular working with:
* Panasonic projection equipment
* Hive and Pixera media servers
* Venue wide networked sound system with multitrack playback.
* Panasonic LCD and LED video walls and associated controllers and servers.
* AV Infrastructure and signal distribution.
* Wi-Fi and mobile ‘phone network booster equipment.
* Venue-wide internal and AV networks.
* Overall responsibility for system monitoring and ticketing systems
* Working closely with venue operations and facilities managers to integrate tech with operational procedures.
Main Duties – Live Events
* Coordinating the setting up and operating audio, video and control technology for live events.
* Overseeing and assisting technical production of third-party event contractors
* Taking overall responsibility for the resourcing of the venue and live events.
* Liaising with the Content Manager when required.
Other
* Ensure fault reporting in a timely manner to the Chief Technology Officer.
* Plan and oversee and the annual maintenance closure window at our permanent venue, and maintenance of our touring equipment.
* Liaise with third party technology partners who provide SLAs on core IT network, internet connectivity, switches, audio and IP telephony.
* Offer general IT support to all venue staff (in association with outsourced service provider).
* Assist on areas of development within AV services.
* Monitor and support the performance of internal and freelance technicians to ensure delivery of high level of service throughout events.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a similar role(s) and with the types of technology and associated software in use at FRAMELESS.
* Experience of media servers and the distribution of audio and video over both digital and analogue routed systems.
* Experience of LED video walls and controllers.
* Experience of networked audio and multitrack playback.
* Panasonic Projectors & Projection Mapping.
* Pixera, Hive and/or Brightsign media servers.
* Q-Sys.
* Q-Lab.
* Touch Designer.
* Mad Mapper.
* Blackmagic Video devices.
* Lighting.
* Industry standard video/audio network transport protocols: NDI, Dante, AES67
* Working with timecode-controlled systems.
