Role Overview:
As a Medication Technician, you will be responsible for the accurate preparation, administration, and documentation of medications for our residents. You will work closely with our healthcare team to provide top-notch care and support to our elderly residents. You will be working as a team and provide a critical link between residents, their families. Clear and effective communication is essential to ensure that residents fully understand their medication regimen and to address any concerns or questions that may arise.
You will be supported by your line manager, who has a background in working in pharmacies. The ideal candidate will have experience in pharmacy or a senior role involving the administration of medication.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer medications as prescribed by GPs and Consultants.
- Monitor residents for any adverse reactions and report them promptly.
- Maintain accurate medication records and documentation.
- Assist with resident care as needed, including monitoring vital signs.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure a high standard of care.
Requirements:
- Certification as a Medication Technician.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Compassionate and patient-focused approach.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Prior experience in a similar role is preferred but not required.
- Experience with digital records and digital recording of medication.
-Medical Knowledge – A thorough understanding of medical terminology, drug categories, dosage calculation, and administration routes.
-Attention to Detail – Must be detail-oriented and ensure all medication is accurately administered and documented.
-Time Management – Ability to administer medications efficiently and prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment.
-Communication – Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish rapport with residents and co-workers.
