Position: Full-time, 5 days per week
Aspire Recruitment is working with a specialist SEN school that provides education for 96 children aged 5-16 (Year 1 to Year 11) with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and a primary diagnosis of Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH). The school caters to children whose needs cannot be met within a mainstream setting. As a small, nurturing environment, every pupil is known and supported by a dedicated team of experienced staff. The school places a strong emphasis on exceptional pastoral care, ensuring that each child feels understood and valued.
The school offers a broad and balanced curriculum that promotes equal opportunities for all students, helping them achieve accredited qualifications and develop the life skills needed to become successful, independent members of their local community.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Support with Learning: Assist the child in accessing the curriculum, providing tailored support to meet their individual learning needs.
2. Personal Care Assistance: Provide personal care support, including but not limited to toileting, dressing, feeding, and mobility.
3. Classroom Support: Support the child within the classroom setting, ensuring they are included in all activities and working alongside the class teacher to meet their needs.
4. Monitoring and Reporting: Track the child's progress, communicating effectively with parents and other professionals involved in their care and education.
5. Promote Independence: Encourage the child's independence while ensuring they have the support they need to succeed.
Ideal Candidate:
1. Experience in SEN: Previous experience working with children with special educational needs is preferred, particularly in a classroom setting.
2. Personal Care Experience: A willingness and ability to provide personal care (training will be provided if necessary).
3. Compassionate & Patient: A caring individual who can form positive relationships with children and help them thrive in their educational journey.
Requirements:
1. Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undertake one)
2. A passion for working with children with additional needs
3. Level 2 / 3 teaching assistant qualification
