An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated clinically experienced pharmacist to lead and further develop the well-established 7-day pharmacy service at the front door.
We are looking for an experienced pharmacist with extensive clinical pharmacy knowledge, to come and deliver best practice and patient-centered care.
You will play a key role in ensuring continuity of pharmaceutical care from the Emergency department to the acute medical units or medical wards, to facilitate smooth and rapid admissions and discharges.
The successful candidate will join a supportive, friendly, and integrated pharmacy team. You will receive support and mentoring to help you develop your clinical, leadership, and managerial skills.
For candidates who don’t match the essential criteria but are keen to specialize in Emergency medicine, we can support you with a 7-8a progression post. A personalized and structured development plan with set criteria over a time period will be created to ensure you are supported with key skills and knowledge before moving into the specialist role. You will be supported by a team of experienced pharmacists who will assist you on your pathway to becoming an Advanced Pharmacist.
Apply now to embark on this transformative journey with us! Please state in your application whether William Harvey Hospital in Ashford or Queen Elizabeth Queen Mother Hospital in Margate is your preferred site.
On a daily basis, you will form part of a small team of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians providing a safe and effective clinical pharmacy service to the acute and emergency floor. This includes support and advice on the post-take ward round, medicines reconciliation, coordination of discharges, and education and training for nurses and doctors, as well as supervising the rotational pharmacists working within acute medicine.
The pharmacy role is well established and supported by the clinicians and nurses alike. The post holder will contribute to the Emergency department MDT and have additional responsibilities of inputting into clinical guidelines, presenting at clinical governance, service evaluation, multi-professional education and training, and other strategic projects as required.
There are numerous opportunities for quality improvement, audit, and research.
The post holder will have a commitment to working shift patterns, as part of the extended hour service on the acute medical unit. This includes being part of the on-call service as well as contributing to a comprehensive clinical pharmacy by working 1 in 6 weekends with flexible days off during the week in return.
Applications for this role should be written by the applicant. If artificial intelligence (AI) programs are used, then the application may be rejected due to this document being an important part of the assessment process. This does not prevent applicants from seeking appropriate support with applications should they need to for the purposes of any declared disability.
