Practice Plus Group are pleased to announce that they will be taking over the healthcare contract at HMP Wymott, a Category C prison in Lancashire from 1st April 2025.
We have an exciting opportunity for a General Practitioner to join our team there from April. The prison houses around 1100 men with a variety of health needs.
This position is full time working 40 hours per week. You will receive an annual salary up to £120,000 per annum depending on experience.

Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.
Main duties of the job
As a member of the Multi-Disciplinary Team, you will:
* Provide clinical assessment and diagnosis to patients' requirements and make timely decisions regarding future management.
* Prescribe for patients, regularly review medications and monitor repeat prescriptions.
* Provide a highly specialist resource to other members of the healthcare team at site, as well as the patients you work with, having active involvement in clinical governance and effectiveness activities, including diagnosis, investigation, treatment and referral as appropriate in line with guidelines and pathways.

Qualifications required
* MBChB or MBBS
* Inclusion on the GMC Register and GP Performers List
* Evidence of engagement with annual appraisal
* Experience working as a General Practitioner in community general practice
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Ability to work with patients with a history of substance misuse
* RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 and 2, or prepared to undertake these qualifications
