Vacancy: Analytical Services Chemist Location: Clitheroe Job Family: Quality Job Purpose We have an opportunity for an Analytical Services Chemist at the Catalyst Technologies site in Clitheroe, providing essential Quality Control measurements associated with manufactured product release, in process control analysis, effluent stream analysis for regulatory compliance, and other analytical testing for process optimisation and R&D. You will primarily perform analytical testing and associated tasks that meets the defining responsibilities of the site Analytical Service department in a timely, professional and high-quality manner, whilst working to the highest EHS standards. Your responsibilities: Comply with EHS and GLP standards. Assist in their continuous improvement by actively participating in processes such auditing, gathering and reporting of performance data, and 5S/housekeeping exercises Perform routine Quality Control analytical testing using fully validated and specified analytical methods and procedures Submission of analytical data into the data reporting systems (LIMS) with high regard for accuracy and precision Review and authorisation of sample release following execution of required analytical testing to ensure compliance and confidence. Writing and reviewing of Laboratory Procedures to support analytical testing, instrumentation use and QA processes Writing of reports, where necessary, to support Laboratory investigations, improvements or modifications. Requirements for the role: Degree or higher diploma in Chemistry or scientific subject for which analytical chemistry formed a major part. Alternatively, non-graduates with a record of success in delivering quality analytical services would be considered. Experience of working in high-pressure and high-volume Laboratory environment and managing sample priorities Experience, competence and/or Theoretical knowledge of inorganic analysis techniques, both classical and instrumented methods. The ability to plan and organise work to ensure deadlines for data reporting are met Awareness or Risk / COSHH Assessments and other Safety Frameworks Knowledge of the key factors influencing analytical data quality, sources of measurement uncertainty and the means of expressing them Experience in the use of LIMS This specific role requires alternate weekend working.
