Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 5 physiotherapist at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team. The successful candidate will participate in our physiotherapy 4 monthly rotational scheme, including rotations in Trauma, Burns, Oncology & Haematology, Cardiothoracic, Medicine, Musculoskeletal outpatients, Specialist Surgery, Neurosciences, Stroke, Critical Care & the Respiratory Support Unit. Out of Trust rotations include MSK OP Gym, Orthopaedics, Hydrotherapy, Learning Disabilities & Norman Power Centre. This is an ideal opportunity for a newly qualified, or more experienced physiotherapist to develop excellent clinical reasoning, communication & problem-solving skills to become an effective member of the MDT, providing a high standard physiotherapy service. The post holder will participate in the delivery of out of hours services at weekends & overnight on call (following competency training). The successful candidate will have access to regular clinical supervision, peer support & training opportunities. You will be supported in participating in annual appraisals and to complete your preceptorship in your first year of working within the trust. This will be a two-stage interview process, stage 1 is a virtual assessment, stage 2 will be face to face interviews. If you are unsuccessful at stage 1, you will not be invited to stage 2. Stage 1 from 20th November 2024 Stage 2 from 25th November 2024 Main duties of the job The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills, a flexible approach & the ability to work autonomously. They should possess excellent organisational, time management & problem solving skills. The individual will be able to perform physiotherapeutic assessment of patients who have diverse presentations & complex physical/psychological conditions. They will need good clinical reasoning & prioritisation skills to provide a high standard of physiotherapy care. The individual should have relevant clinical experience for this post, & will need experience of working within the acute NHS in an MDT. They should provide evidence of relevant courses & training plus commitment to ongoing CPD. The successful candidate will be responsible for their own caseload within their rotation, working with regular line management. They will receive regular clinical supervision e.g formal training, clinical reasoning sessions, peer review & case conferences. The individual will be supported to become involved with supervision, education & assessment of physiotherapy students on placement, and will be involved in teaching & training of therapy assistant staff. We run a comprehensive in service education programme, and band 5 staff are fully supported to complete their preceptorship. We offer a buddy system for new band 5 starters to the department. Band 5 staff are expected to undertake on-call & emergency duty work once they have completed our comprehensive competency programme.
