Finance Assistant | Venture Backed BioTech Start-up | Hybrid / Oxford (1 day)
The Client
Harmonic is delighted to be partnering with a venture-backed biotech start-up that is pioneering innovative solutions to psychiatric challenges. This exciting company, a spin-out from a renowned not-for-profit organisation, has recently strengthened its position in the industry through a strategic acquisition of a competitor. With this milestone, they are now poised to advance ground breaking developmental trials, making it an incredible time to join their journey as a permanent Finance Assistant.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Group Financial Controller, this role offers a unique opportunity for a hands-on and autonomous approach. The ideal candidate will bring an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for advancing their finance career within the industry. With its broad scope, this position provides exposure to the highly regulated and dynamic international biotech sector. As part of a funded start-up, it presents an exciting opportunity for personal and professional growth in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Ownership of month-end duties, such as assisting with share-based payments, intercompany reconciliations, and R&D tax calculations.
* Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations, identifying and escalating potential issues to the Group Financial Controller.
* Conduct bank reconciliations promptly and accurately.
* Assist with audit queries and prepare supporting.
* Supporting with ad hoc administrative duties.
* Process invoices, chase approvals and respond to supplier queries.
* Journal postings and prepayments.
Essential Experience:
* 1-2 years accountancy experience or graduate with a Finance/Accountancy degree
* Double-entry postings
* Keen eye for detail
* Strong mathematical and Excel skills
* Entrepreneurial spirit, able to take on tasks without being asked to do so
* Comfortable working in a small, collaborative team
Desirable Experience:
* Biotech or start-up experience
* Scientific degree
Salary: £28,000-£30,000 (some flex for the right candidate)
