The post holder will be responsible for the day to day management of general Orthopaedic patients admitted under his/her care and on call on a 1 in 12 rota based at the Croydon site. The orthopaedic on call rota will run as Consultant of the Week (emergency committed only) from Friday 8am until Friday 8am the following week in line with the London Emergency Standards 1 in 12 There is 1 in 12 weekend commitment. The post holder will share the junior staff and will be responsible for training of CT1 and STs as well as GPVTS and Trust Grade Doctors. Consultants are required to be onsite and free of other commitments when on call during normal working hours. The successful applicant will provide a twice daily ward round when on call and will be free of clinical commitments as part of the 24 hours emergency surgery guidelines. The post holder participates in the local and the regional complex trauma and upper limb MDT which is run fortnightly and this will be incorporated in to the job plan. The postholder will undertake one hand clinic, one shoulder clinic and one fracture clinic at Croydon University Hospital weekly and a whole day operating at either the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre or the Croydon Elective Centre on a weekly basis.
