Role Summary:
Reporting to the Managing Director, the Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for the financial management of project costs and delivery, including overseeing a variety of contracts, managing subcontractors, activity schedules, payments, and variations. This includes producing bills of quantities and estimating, through to tendering and procurement, while running risk registers to ensure projects are maintained on time and to budget, and accurately forecasting the financial performance of a project.
Role & Responsibilities:
1. Performing risk management, value management, cost control, and reporting.
2. Valuing completed work and agreeing payments for approval.
3. Advising on estimating and procurement strategies during feasibility and active project stages.
4. Preparing tender and contract documents, including liaison with consultants, contractors, and project teams.
5. Providing advice on contractual claims and general contract administration.
6. Ensuring the timely production of interim valuations and the preparation, submission, and substantiation of final accounts.
7. Managing and controlling subcontract and supplier accounts in line with agreed terms and conditions.
8. Identifying and analyzing commercial risks.
9. Preparing claim documents as required.
10. Preparing and presenting relevant financial and commercial information.
11. Attending and actively participating in regular project meetings.
12. Implementing and providing cost-related information to measure the financial and physical performance of projects against set targets.
13. Preparing, updating, and maintaining activity schedules of budget costs, actual costs, project variations, and program delivery.
14. Feeding updated information into the live cashflow forecast with the Finance Team.
15. Preparing and analyzing tender documents.
16. Ensuring professional presentation of information and supplying comprehensive supporting documentation where required.
17. Identifying, quantifying, and notifying all contract variations and preparing and maintaining contract change registers.
18. Carrying out procurement and ensuring POs are raised in line with company policy.
Requirements:
1. Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or similar.
2. Desirable to have or be working towards MRICS membership.
3. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Quantity Surveying on commercial/domestic projects.
4. Comfortable interfacing with senior management.
5. Excellent analytical skills to make informed, balanced business decisions and report findings to relevant stakeholders.
6. Strong attention to detail.
7. Good judgment and decision-making.
8. Numerate.
9. Proficient in Microsoft Project, Excel, Xero, and Netsuite.
