Children's Services Manager - Children & Families Practice Team (3243), Western Isles
37 hours per week, Permanent Post
£52,399 - £57,048 per annum, inclusive of £2,742 Distant Islands Allowance
The post holder will be responsible for the operational management and delivery of Children and Families Social Work function (Child Protection, Looked After Children, Youth Justice, Throughcare/Aftercare, and family-based therapeutic inputs) throughout the Western Isles. They will also be responsible for the strategic development of Children’s Services along with the Head of Service and Children’s Services Manager – Resources.
You must have experience of chairing Child Care Reviews and monitoring the quality of child care services. You should have a proven track record of working effectively with other services and agencies, and experience of management in Social Work.
You must have a working knowledge of integrated assessment and care management, a sound knowledge of childcare legislation and guidance, and an understanding of current social policy as it affects Children and Families social work.
You should have the ability to manage competing demands and assist others in managing theirs, good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and problem solve, and the ability to lead and motivate staff and to support them.
It is essential that you hold a Diploma in Social Work or equivalent. A full driving licence is required.
This post can be based anywhere within the Local Authority area.
This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with children & adults.
Salary for the above post is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance. Appointment to the post will be on the first point of the grade.
