Salamander Solutions is a global manufacturer and installer of downhole heater cable technology and is seeking Mechanical Engineer to join the team in Deeside, North Wales, UK. Reporting to the Sr. Mechanical Engineer, the successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out engineering tasks relating to the development, manufacture, testing, and qualification of heater cable products and accessories. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: Adhere to the company’s safety guidelines, employee handbook, and work to the company’s quality management system at all times. Work closely with the company’s Sr. Mechanical Engineer to create and improve, new and existing production processes and products to increase reliability and reduce manufacturing costs to the business. Review and work to understand and improve the manufacturing processes and evaluate new technology for use in the Company’s manufacturing facilities, with a focus on sharing knowledge of the UK plant with other global locations. Take ownership of all assigned work scopes uses initiative and problem-solving ability to bring to completion within the constraints set out. Engage in peer review of documents and drawings as required. Participate in design review activities. Provide technical support to other business departments including discussions with clients and suppliers. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (biased discipline). HNC/HND will be considered based on relevant experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 3 years of relevant experience in a role involving mechanical design, testing, and prototype manufacture in a manufacturing setting. Proficient in modern IT systems including the use of MS Office, the successful candidate will also have excellent spoken and written communication skills in English. Ability to create, read, and interpret technical documentation such as procedures, risk assessments, and engineering drawings is required. Experience in the use of a 3D CAD application is required. Test procedure and report writing. Mechanical engineering calculations. Basic electrical engineering knowledge is required due to the nature of the product. Qualifications relating to the use of manual and CNC machine tools for the purposes of prototype manufacture would be beneficial but not essential. Knowledge of the onshore and offshore oil and gas industry would be beneficial. Travel Requirements: This role may entail occasional international travel.
