Position: Operations Manager
Salary: £60,000 - £65,000

My client, who are a global manufacturing company within the plastic industry recently established a UK manufacturing facility in Fleetwood, and are committed to delivering high-quality products while maintaining efficiency, safety, and sustainability. Their operations prioritise continuous improvement, innovation, and adherence to the highest industry standards.
They are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee and optimise manufacturing processes within their facility. This role requires strategic leadership, ensuring production efficiency, quality control, and safety and regulatory standards compliance. The Operations Manager will play a key role in driving cost reductions, enhancing productivity, and leading a dynamic team to achieve operational excellence.
Required Experience & Skills:
Industry Expertise: Experience working in a manufacturing environment, ideally with injection/stretch blow moulding/extrusion equipment and automation would be beneficial.
Operational Leadership: Minimum 5 years experience in Operational Management within a manufacturing setting.
Process Improvement Knowledge: Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies (desirable).
Health & Safety Compliance: IOSH or NEBOSH qualification (or willingness to obtain).
Strong Leadership & Communication: Ability to manage teams effectively and drive continuous improvements in a fast-paced environment.
Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to assess operational challenges and implement effective solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
* Production Management: Oversee daily manufacturing operations, ensuring production targets are met efficiently and on schedule.
* Process Optimisation: Develop and implement strategies to enhance production efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality.
* Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with supply chain, quality assurance, and other departments to achieve company objectives.
* Regulatory Compliance: Adhere fully to health, safety, and environmental regulations, including IOSH or NEBOSH standards.
* Performance Analysis: Monitor and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and drive operational excellence.
* Team Leadership: Manage a manufacturing team of approximately 30 employees, fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous development.
* Workforce Development: Select, train, and mentor employees, ensuring they contribute effectively to the company’s success.
* Lean Manufacturing & Process Improvement: Apply Lean Manufacturing principles and, where applicable, Six Sigma methodologies to optimise efficiency.
* Budget & Cost Control: Manage budgets effectively, ensuring cost control while maintaining high-quality production outputs.
