Operations Supervisor
Location: Scarborough
Salary: Up to £29,000
Contract: Permanent, Full time
Due to rapid growth, our client is looking for an Operations Supervisor. You will be reporting to the Operations Manager. This role requires swift and clear communication between all stakeholders including vessel owners, office and marine staff, clients, and engineers.
Responsibilities:
1. Stand in for the Operations Manager in their absence, after suitable training.
2. Work alongside the Operations Manager on pre-planning, seeking authorization, sending inspection reports including findings and rectification suggestions, etc.
3. Assist the operations of all owned, managed, chartered, and sub-chartered vessels.
4. Assist with any accident, incident, near miss or other requested investigation and report all findings and suggested rectifications to Operations Manager.
5. Assist with compliance of ISM, ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001 systems onboard all required vessels, including daily, weekly, monthly and annual checks, inspections, audits, compliance, monitoring of the standards, implementing improvements, training, etc.
6. After training, auditing and inspecting of all owned, managed, chartered, and sub-chartered vessels.
7. Early planning of port services and any associated service providers, for instance, engineers, shipyards, dockers, agents, etc., and overseeing those movements.
8. After training, visiting owned, managed, chartered, and sub-chartered vessels for health and safety and quality control.
9. Assisting the management of breakdowns by contacting engineers and electricians after hours, potentially arranging vessel movement to bring in a replacement vessel.
10. Attend company meetings.
11. Attend client meetings internal and external when required.
12. Visit new builds assessing progress as required.
13. Liaise with Operations Manager daily.
14. Maintain close contact with managed vessel owners.
15. Ad hoc requirements as assigned by the company.
Key Skills:
1. 3 - 4 years' experience as a certified Officer of the Watch (OOW) or operational experience in OS-HSC CTV/craft vessels.
2. Understanding and knowledge of the ISM and OS-HSC codes and compliance.
3. Experience dealing with Flag administrations and RO's.
4. Auditing skills and experience desirable.
5. Willingness and desire to travel sometimes internationally for vessel visits, inspections, port calls, docking, maintenance assistance, etc.
6. Flexibility to be available in case of emergencies.
7. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with experience liaising between different stakeholders.
8. Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office, PMS, and other computer systems.
9. Willingness and desire to learn.
