We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Outpatient Healthcare Assistant to join our Outpatient Team based in Hemel Hempstead. You will join us on a full-time, permanent basis, and in return, you will receive a salary in the range of £23,810.00 - £25,500.00 pa DoE plus benefits.
Main duties of the job
Clinical:
1. To undertake a wide range of clinical duties, which could include the following:
2. Performing general observations e.g. BP, weight, height
3. Performing ECG’s
4. Assisting the nurses and doctors as appropriate
5. Chaperoning patients to different clinical departments and within consultations as required.
6. Engaging with and supporting patients throughout their visits to outpatient clinics
7. Chaperoning and assisting patients across clinical departments
8. Ensure compliance with all protocols and policies relating to collection, storage and dispatch of pathological specimens including intravenous blood samples, swabs, smears etc. and ensure the cleanliness of any equipment used.
9. Ensure the maintenance of equipment and stock levels relating to patient care.
10. Contribute to a team approach to patient care to promote a seamless service to patients.
11. Promote and demonstrate effective communication practices within nursing services and with all other interfaces.
12. To act as an advocate for all patients, ensuring a patient-oriented approach to the delivery of evidence-based care is in place.
13. Comply with and actively promote all company and national policies relating to the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults.
14. Undertake regular training and development activities including attendance at courses as required for the role.
15. To respond to requests for assistance in cleaning bodily fluids ensuring all protocols and procedures are followed in relation to management of waste and infection control.
16. Take responsibility for own development, learning and performance and demonstrate skills and activities to others who are undertaking similar work.
17. Ensure that the rooms and environment are adequately prepared and stocked in advance for clinics.
Quality Review:
1. Participate in regular review of clinic activities ensuring the patient journey, comfort, safety and patient services outcomes continue to be at the forefront of the agenda and are maintained at the highest level.
2. To work flexibly as part of the team and to undertake any other relevant duties as required in the post.

Job responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
* To assist in the provision of high-quality care to patients, which will include treatment, chaperoning, screening and patient education.
* To assist in the smooth running of clinics.
The successful candidate will be expected to work on a shift basis, working 37.5 hours per week over a 7 day rota during the hospital operating hours. The rota is not fixed, is subject to change in order to meet operational needs and will be required to work weekends and bank holidays in accordance with the rota.
About you
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
* NVQ3 or equivalent ideally with phlebotomy skills
* Evidence of CPD
* Experience working in a health care environment ideally in primary care/out patients
* Ability to engage at all levels with patients, colleagues etc.
