The position
We are recruiting a fully qualified (ECVP, ACVP, and/or FRCPath boarded) pathologist for a full-time (40h/week) hybrid position. You will predominantly work from home but must participate in an on-site rota in our laboratory in Bristol as per business needs. Our caseload mainly consists of companion animal species, with an increasing number of exotic animal submissions. A large proportion of our clients are in referral veterinary practice, reflecting the quality of our reporting and the high standards we expect from our pathologists and laboratory technicians.
Main Responsibilities
1. Delivering veterinary histopathology reporting in line with agreed quality standards and daily output with a customer-centric approach.
2. Participating in an on-site rota and fulfilling required on-site pathologist duties, such as solving remote pathologist queries and assisting with gross examination of complex samples.
3. Maintaining professional standards by fulfilling CPD requirements.
4. Participating in internal and external research projects, client, student, and resident education, business development, and marketing activities aimed at improving services.
Essential Skills
1. RCVS recognized degree in Veterinary Medicine and membership of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.
2. ECVP, ACVP, and/or FRCPath boarded.
3. Ability or willingness to learn to report based on digital slides.
4. Ability to work systematically and independently, completing tasks in a time-sensitive manner with high attention to detail.
5. Excellent communication skills to convey expert veterinary histopathology knowledge to veterinarians of other specialties, maintaining professionalism at all times, both written and verbally.
6. Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and experience with a LIMS system.
Desirable Skills
1. Working knowledge in QA/QC.
2. Interest in advanced histology techniques, such as IA/AI, IHC, etc.
3. Interest in advancing the veterinary histopathology field through research, engagement with professional bodies, scientific presentations, and/or teaching.
