An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Occupational Therapist to join our Integrated Therapy, Health Care of the Older Person Team. We welcome applications from applicants who do not have the full qualifications needed but meet all other areas of the essential criteria and would consider a transitional role from Band 5 to Band 6 on the condition of completing a development plan. The team specializes in the health care of older adults including frailty, dementia, acute illness, and long-term conditions. The successful applicant will be an important part of this integrated therapy team and will be responsible for the supervision and support of the other therapy staff within the team. We will support you to develop leadership and management skills in your career journey.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be required to support patients to achieve their individual goals, enabling them to gain and/or maintain independence in their chosen occupational performance activities. Working as part of the Multidisciplinary Team, the post holder will assist patients in preparing for their discharge from the hospital setting into their identified place of discharge (e.g. home or community-based rehabilitation settings) while considering their individual occupational needs. The post holder will gain experience in the assessment process within the acute hospital and complete access and community visits to support discharge planning. There is plenty of opportunity to develop, as the department offers an established in-service training programme, clinical supervision, and support through preceptorship, performance development review, and peer group support.
