Aldwickbury is an independent day and flexi-boarding school for boys located in 20 acres of grounds on the outskirts of Harpenden in Hertfordshire As a Pre-Prep and Prep School Aldwickbury currently has a pupil roll of 365 boys aged 4-13 years. The Role Accountable to: Domestic Services Manager Key relationships: Domestic Services Manager, Head Chef and Catering colleagues Job Purpose: To work as part of the kitchen team to provide nutritious meals to pupils and staff, to take a share of responsibility in keeping the kitchen clean and to provide a high standard of hospitality service at school functions and events. Hours of Work: Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm (term time only) Main Duties and Responsibilities Key responsibilities and accountabilities: Assist chefs with lunch preparation. Assist set up of the dining room and serve at counters for both lunch services. Cleaning of dining room and kitchen after service. Serve at morning break, staff tea breaks, and various events and functions. Assist in stocking, cleaning and serving drinks in the mobile catering trailer. Maintain the required levels of hygiene in line with Health and Safety regulations. A need to help at events such as match teas, school plays, prize giving, sports day, etc, throughout the year and this may be outside of your normal working hours. Advance notice of this will be given and will be paid at the standard overtime rate. There may be a requirement for you to work additional hours for evening hospitality functions. Again, advanced notice of this will be given and will be paid at the standard overtime rate. Perform additional tasks, as and when required, by the Domestic Services Manager or Head Chef. A requirement to complete a Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene course and a Food Allergen and Intolerance training course. This can be completed during your induction period. There may be a requirement to carry out additional training as required.
