Overview:
We are currently working alongside a well established electronics manufacturer based up in Cumbria who are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Buyer/Scheduler to enhance their procurement process. In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing materials, goods, and services essential for their operations. Your tasks will include MRP scheduling and buying, supplier management, and negotiating to secure optimal quality and pricing. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
The business are an SME who have been operating within this space for over 80 years. They are a leading supplier to leading organisations within the defence and aerospace market, and they are currently going through another period of growth and continuously invest in all the latest technology to ensure they remain the market leader for their sector.
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement:
* Source and procure materials and services to meet production demands, driven by MRP.
* Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiating pricing, terms, and contracts.
* Foster strong relationships with suppliers to ensure reliability and quality.
* Monitor purchasing operations for compliance with quality standards and integrate these practices into daily activities.
* Manage strategic free-issue parts to ensure availability for supplier needs.
* Oversee inventory levels, placing orders to maintain optimal stock.
* Ensure timely delivery of materials to align with production schedules.
* Maintain accurate project costings to protect project margins.
* Address and resolve issues related to orders, including delays and quality concerns.
* Communicate supply challenges with Operations that may impact manufacturing.
* Collaborate with Operations and Projects on new product introductions.
Inventory Management:
* Regularly monitor inventory levels and conduct stock assessments.
* Implement inventory control measures to minimize excess and avoid shortages.
* Work closely with stores teams to manage incoming and outgoing materials.
Qualifications:
* Professional qualification in Supply Chain Management or a related degree, or a willingness to complete one.
Experience:
* Understanding of purchasing and supply chain processes.
* Experience with ERP systems, particularly MRP.
* Relevant experience in a similar role within a global industry.

Work Environment: The company offer a 4 day working week along with a hybrid working model. Following a successful probationary period, you will be entitled to 1 day per week working from home
