Support a Child’s Learning as a 1:1 Teaching Assistant
A welcoming and inclusive school in Dawlish is seeking a compassionate and dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to provide tailored support to a child with additional learning needs. Role Overview
As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to support the student’s social, emotional, and academic development. You will play a key role in creating a positive and engaging learning experience, helping the child gain confidence and independence.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide personalised support in the classroom and during school activities.
* Adapt lesson materials and learning strategies to meet the child’s individual needs.
* Implement SEN strategies as directed by the teacher and SENCO.
* Monitor and document progress, sharing updates with staff and parents.
* Encourage the development of essential social and communication skills.
* Create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
* Work collaboratively with school staff to ensure the child receives the best possible support.
What We’re Looking For
* Previous experience in a 1:1 or SEN support role is desirable but not essential.
* A caring and patient approach, with a passion for supporting children’s learning.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
* Adaptability and a proactive attitude to engaging and encouraging students.
* A commitment to safeguarding and promoting student well-being.
