Export Customs Administrator - Night Shift

Position
As an Export Customs Administrator, you will be responsible for the preparation of Customs documentation to ensure UK exporters' goods can exit the UK and enter the EU (and other non-UK countries), while ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations.
1. Work as part of a team.
2. Recognise exporters' commercial invoice(s) and packing list(s), extracting data as necessary to complete export customs declarations.
3. Liaise with exporters and internal operational colleagues to obtain mandatory information for export entries.
4. Enter export shipment details onto specialised Customs software including CHIEF, CDS, NCTS etc., to allow goods to depart from the UK.
5. Prepare necessary export documentation, for example: Transit documents, GMRs, French Envelope, and other cargo control documents.
6. Ensure the highest standards of customer service, ensuring customs entries are completed on time.
7. Maintain customs compliance within the team.
8. Resolve any areas of non-compliance and solve problems effectively and timely, for example: Customs penalty notices, adhering to strict deadlines set by HMRC for resolution.
Hours of Work
Monday - Friday
Times to be confirmed - 1 hour 'lunch' break
Requirements
Key skills and qualifications:
1. Excellent interpersonal skills due to engagement with various agencies on a daily basis.
2. Articulate and efficient with a professional approach.
3. Self-motivating and able to organise work effectively and maintain records.
4. Ability to operate windows-based applications and other standard industry software; good Excel skills advantageous.
5. Work in a fast-paced environment ensuring export clearance processes are completed in a compliant and timely manner, avoiding delays.
6. Numerical skills essential, with excellent data handling capabilities.
7. Customer-focused, both internally with colleagues and externally with clients.
8. Ideally fully conversant with Customs applications such as CHIEF & NCTS; CDS knowledge advantageous.
