Due to our continued expansion, we are seeking to recruit an outstanding Learning Support Practitioner to meet the needs of young adults with learning difficulties or disabilities.
As a Learning Support Practitioner, you will work closely with the teaching staff to support our learners in all aspects of their learning, social development, personal needs, and developing their skills for independence and employability. In this role, you will be able to make a big difference to our young people, all of whom have a wide range of severe and/or complex needs, with associated communication and learning difficulties.
You need to be able to engage and enthuse our young people and help prepare them for adulthood. You don't need experience of working in a special needs or education environment, although it would be advantageous, as would experience of college or work-based learning. Excellent literacy and numeracy skills are essential, along with a 'can do' approach, flexibility, resilience, and strong communication and team working skills.
There are many career development opportunities for those interested in progression, including into teaching and job coaching. Other benefits of working at The Oaks Specialist College include private healthcare and free health screening. If you are interested in the role, please visit our website www.theoaks.ac.uk for more information about the College.
Please note we are unable to accept CVs or applications through agencies.
The Oaks Specialist College is committed to safeguarding young people, a commitment we expect all staff to share and uphold.
