Working in close collaboration with our HR Services Team, as well as with our Business Systems and Payroll Teams, this is an exciting opportunity to manage the development and delivery of the Council’s pay and reward offer, providing professional advice and insights, to support the retention of skills and talent and to promote engagement.
The role is full-time, however the Council supports flexible working requests from day one, so we are open to discussing how different working patterns could be supported. We have set out in the attached job description and person specification what we are ideally looking for in a candidate; our priority is in finding the right candidate with a mix of skills and experience that adds value to our employment offer.
The interview date for this job will be Friday, 13th December, at New Shire Hall, Alconbury Weald, near Huntingdon.
What will you be doing?
You will influence the development of the Council’s approach to pay and reward, working in collaboration with colleagues to make recommendations to improve and innovate our pay and reward offer. This will include developing ways to link our pay and reward strategy more closely with organisation design, creating clear pathways for progression and development within the organisation. Reporting to the Workforce Policy and Reward Manager, you will be responsible for the oversight and delivery of outcomes critical to the annual pay cycle, including pay awards and the payment of incremental pay rises to ensure that these processes are delivered accurately and to time.
You will identify ways for continuous improvement and ensure our pay and reward initiatives are transparent, inclusive and fair, while delivering on our organisational needs and outcomes.
About you
You will be an experienced HR professional, with understanding and experience of pay and reward approaches, HR policies and systems, and sound knowledge of employment legislation, with the ability to understand and interpret its implications for us, as a large employer.
You will have demonstrable project management experience and be confident to take the lead on projects, collaborating with others and building strong working relationships, to deliver required outcomes to agreed timescales.
This role involves working with large data sets and therefore you will have the digital skills to present, analyse and manipulate data and information for different target audiences.
You will value diversity, treat others with respect, and take responsibility for your own actions.
In return, you will be offered a supportive and flexible work environment, where you will develop and thrive at work.
