Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The role requires a high level of clinical and professional expertise in order that clients and their carers benefit from a well-coordinated pro-active, specialist, efficient and effective Dietetic treatment. The service includes individually tailored therapy and management, training, advice and a consultative approach. Input is predominantly on a one-on-one basis but consultation and training may be provided to train staff as required.
Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. Degree in Dietetics or equivalent Post Graduate Diploma
2. Master's degree or equivalent experience of the nutritional needs of young people/adults with a significant eating disorder.
3. Health Care Professionals Council registration
4. Registration with BDA
Desirable criteria
1. Specialist qualification in psychological therapies (e.g. systemic family work, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, CBT-E, DBT, etc)
2. Relevant post graduate experience in AMH or Eating Disorders
Training
Essential criteria
1. Evidence of attendance on specialist short courses and advanced training in clinical specialist areas
Desirable criteria
1. Specialist training / qualifications in mental health &/or eating disorders
2. Training in clinical supervision
Skills
Essential criteria
1. Physical skills required to manage challenging behaviour in line with Trust policies, including Therapeutic Management of Violence and Aggression training
2. Highly developed auditory and perceptual skills in the assessment diagnosis and treatment of service users
3. IT skills, including the use of nutritional analysis package Diet Plan and specialist computer databases
4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated through writing, planning, evaluating and presenting papers, teaching, audits, policies and guidelines
5. Able to manage own time and caseload
6. Able to work effectively across team & organisational boundaries
7. Ability to work effectively under pressure
8. Able to adapt to new challenges and change

Knowledge
Essential criteria
1. Highly specialist knowledge of mental health & eating disorders including ARFID
2. Working knowledge of therapeutic approaches and interventions in different mental health disorders
3. Working knowledge of Child Protection Guidelines
Desirable criteria
1. Knowledge of how key strategies, policies & legislation (e.g. NHS Long Term Plan, Future in Mind, Children's Act, Mental Health Act, Delivering With Delivering Well) are located in a wider strategic picture of child health and wellbeing.
Experience
Essential criteria
1. Has a comprehensive understanding of relevant legislation such as the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and can link legislation to clinical practice
2. Extensive experience in assessment, formulation and provision of evidence-based interventions and nutritional treatment plans for people with eating disorders, disordered eating behaviour and associated co-morbidities, ensuring practice is in line with professional codes of conduct
3. Experience of working with people with a wide range of mental health problems
4. Extensive experience of risk assessment and management
5. Experience providing consultation
6. Able to plan and adapt service delivery in light of research, client feedback, service provision and organisational demands.
7. Able to plan, organise and prioritise clinical caseload based on clinical risk, assists junior colleagues in management of their caseloads as appropriate. Can use clinical judgement to inform the need for case conferences and can arrange as appropriate.
8. Able to lead on and contribute to business plans relating to dietetic provisions within CAMHS
Desirable criteria
1. Experience providing clinical supervision
2. Experience providing training and teaching
3. Experiencing informing and writing business plans
4. Experience participating in audits & research
