Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Financial Shared Services Centre Director to lead the setup and ongoing operation of our newly established Financial Shared Services Centre (FSSC) in Liverpool. This role is critical in ensuring that our financial processes, systems, and services are aligned with global best practices, driving efficiency, and supporting the strategic goals of the business.The Director will be responsible for the development, management, and continuous improvement of the financial shared services function, including overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, treasury, financial reporting, and general ledger activities. They will play a key leadership role in managing a diverse team, driving operational excellence, and supporting the company's finance transformation initiatives. Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Strategy: Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing team of financial professionals in the shared services function. Define and implement the strategic vision and operational roadmap for the Financial Shared Services Centre. Ensure the shared services function aligns with the broader business objectives and global finance strategy. Act as a key partner to senior leadership, providing regular updates on service performance, risk, and opportunities for improvement. Operational Excellence: Oversee the delivery of financial services such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and financial reporting, ensuring timely and accurate processing. Drive the continuous improvement of processes and systems, with a focus on automation, digital transformation, and cost efficiency. Ensure compliance with all financial controls, regulatory requirements, and internal policies. Establish and maintain strong service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor the performance of the shared services function. Change Management & Transition: Lead the transition of finance operations to the new shared services centre in Liverpool, ensuring a smooth migration of processes and minimal disruption to business operations. Identify and manage any risks associated with the transition, mitigating issues before they impact the business. Champion change management efforts, ensuring that the team is equipped with the skills and mindset to embrace process and system improvements. Collaboration & Stakeholder Management: Collaborate closely with global finance teams, regional finance leads, and business partners to understand their needs and ensure the shared services centre delivers value-added support. Build strong relationships with external stakeholders, including auditors, tax advisors, and third-party service providers. Promote a customer-centric approach to service delivery, ensuring that the needs of internal stakeholders are met in a timely and effective manner. Technology & Innovation: Lead the integration and optimization of financial technologies and ERP systems within the shared services function. Stay informed of industry trends and emerging technologies, such as RPA (Robotic Process Automation), AI, and data analytics, and evaluate opportunities for their application within the shared services function. Talent Management: Recruit, train, and retain top talent within the Financial Shared Services Centre. Foster a culture of continuous learning, performance, and personal development. Manage team performance, providing coaching and mentorship to direct reports and ensuring alignment with organisational goals. Education: A degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. A professional qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) is highly desirable but not essential. Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in finance, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role overseeing financial shared services or similar operations. Proven experience in managing and leading large, complex finance teams, preferably in a global or multi-regional context. Strong understanding of financial processes, systems, and controls, with a track record of driving improvements in operational efficiency. Experience in leading large-scale finance transformation projects, particularly in the areas of shared services, digitalization, and process automation. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
