Teaching Personnel is currently seeking a dedicated Early Years Teaching Assistant for a full-time role at a school in Plymouth. This rewarding position involves providing one-on-one support to a young child who needs close guidance to adjust to school life and fully access the curriculum.
Key Responsibilities:
Offer consistent support to a child with SEN, helping them settle into the classroom environment.
Work closely with the class teacher to adapt learning materials and activities, ensuring the child’s specific needs are met.
Use patience and empathy to provide emotional and behavioral support, fostering a positive school experience.
Assist with daily routines, encouraging the child’s independence and participation in school activities.
Implement phonics-based learning to support early literacy, ideally utilizing any prior phonics training.
Ideal Candidate Will:
Have experience working with young children, ideally within an educational or SEN setting.
Hold training or experience in Phonics (e.g., Letters and Sounds, Read Write Inc., or similar programs).
Be patient, compassionate, and skilled in managing challenges with a positive, nurturing approach.
Show adaptability and resilience in supporting the child’s evolving needs.
Have a collaborative mindset, working well with teachers, SEN coordinators, and parents.
